Spirit of DistilleriesConnoisseurs' Islay Whisky Tour
10 distilleries, 3 days, 2 nights, many expressions.
This is an in depth, deluxe Connoisseur’s Tour, offering VIP and Craftsman’s Tours, Tasting & Experiences at Islay and Jura’s Scotch Malt Whisky Distilleries.
This Spirit of Distilleries Tour is for people who have a great interest in the Islay Malts. It is perceived as a tour for people who already have some knowledge of Scotch whisky and wish to expand their awareness of the grouping known as the Islay Malts.
Explore the Islay distilleries of Ardbeg, Lagavulin, Laphroaig, Bowmore, Bruichladdich, Kilchoman, Caol Ila, Bunnahabhain and the new Ardnahoe distillery.
Staying in exclusive accommodation, drinking high end, old and rare whisky, and being hosted by distillery managers…. you will have the whisky experience of a lifetime.
The tour manages to fit in EVERY distillery on Islay and also makes a visit to the Isle of Jura Distillery. We can also visit Lussa Gin, a craft distillery at the north end of Jura.
Most of the distillery visits are in depth tours or tastings.
At Bunnahabhain you have the opportunity for a Premium Tasting. You explore 5 of the Bunnahabhain Expressions. Or we can attend a Warehouse 9 Experience where you sit on old church pews, wrapped in Islay Woollen Mill rugs and sample great whisky directly from the cask. The Bowmore Vaults Secrets Tasting Tour is a two and a half hours exploration of the distillery and warehouse, sampling some of their expressions and tasting from at least two casks. You fill your own 100ml bottle directly from the cask to take home.
The Laphroaig Tour is Distiller’s Wares which is an in depth exploration of the distillery followed by a warehouse experience where you sample three of their best expressions and hand fill your own 250ml bottle of Laphroaig’s finest. You are tutored by the Team Leader or one of the Craftpersons from the distillery.
You are looked after and introduced to the people at each distillery by your host, guide. On this tour you can really focus on learning and experiencing more about the Distilleries and their Malts, and leave all the organising of transport and responsibility for achieving each visit at the arranged time to Wild and Magic Islay.
Your accommodation is usually in Bowmore, in one of the comfortable guesthouses or hotels in the village.
This is YOUR connoisseurs’ tour.
